Shut Up, Dude: This Week’s Best And Worst Comments
This week we ranked the 10 best Brand New songs and April’s best metal songs. We gave a pop history of “Tom’s Diner” and talked to the Jesus And Mary Chain. We recommended new releases from Mew and DVS, and heard 20 other new albums that mostly aren’t out yet. And we learned a lot about OK Computer in an oral history chock full of facts (#TidalFacts). Get well soon Joni, B.B., and Weiland. You best and worst comments from the past 7 days are below.
THIS WEEK’S 10 HIGHEST RATED COMMENTS

Tidal did everything wrong from the start. If they really wanted to promote the every-man musician, they should’ve had those people on stage with them when they launched the streaming service — possibly even giving them a spotlight to discuss how, if Tidal were successful, it would impact their life. Instead, they had rich artists playing grab-ass. As everyone can see, that didn’t sit well with the average music lover. At this point, it really doesn’t matter what Tidal and its investors/owners do at this point. They’re just digging themselves and their brand deeper in a hole. Even Kanye seems to realize this… |

Wow, more privileged white people striking down on a Person of Colour with their institutional racism. A person of colour does not have the ability to be racist or misogynistic, misogyny is a result of being of a race of institutional power + bigotry, something only white skinned people are capable of. Hip-Hop is an expression of oppression from the institutional racism against black men in society, the “misogyny” from rappers such as Kanye West, Chief Keef, Drake, Tyler the Creator is because of their growing up in the slums of America which was a result of People of Colour often having to grow up in bad areas. Duncan Hosie is a heteronormative privleged cis white male who is trying to silence the voice of a strong black man. |
