Watch Soundgarden’s Previously Unreleased “Night Surf” Video From Superunknown Tour
Before every date on their Superunknown tour in 1994, Soundgarden opened the show with a short film. It follows around a little boy on his bike, traversing through dusty plains and foggy woods and encountering increasingly disturbing imagery along the way. It was directed by Henry Shepherd and features an instrumental piece called “Night Surf” that was scored by Soundgarden bassist Ben Shepherd. The film was only shown before that run of concerts, and has not been available until now. The instrumental track itself was available on Echo Of Miles: Scattered Tracks Across The Path, the band’s recent rarities box set. “The film had been buried in storage, and only recently was it located, dusted off, and remastered for its debut here, online, or anywhere after 21 years,” Kim Thayil wrote in a message on the band’s website. Watch the short film below.
