The Long Winters’ John Roderick Is Running For Seattle City Council
The last time we heard from the Long Winters’ John Roderick, he was working on the follow-up to 2006’s Putting The Days To Bed. Nothing ever came of that and, outside of a split single with Spiral Stairs in 2010, it looks like the band is inactive for the time being. But Roderick has started to pursue a different calling: politics! Last month, he announced that he was running for a position on the Seattle City Council. His platform, as should be expected of a musician, is largely focused around the arts and the beneficial nature they can provide a community. He seems to be getting off to a good start, too: Local paper The Stranger reports that he raised $40,000 in his first week as a candidate. You can check out his campaign website here.
