Rihanna was the musical guest on the season finale of Saturday Night Live last night. Disappointingly, she didn’t appear in any sketches alongside Louis C.K., which I think would have been a lot of fun, but she did give two very good performances that made up for it. She had a little fun for “Bitch Better Have My Money,” starting off the song driving a car with a kidnapped girl in the back seat, being chased by the cops in the background. She took a more serious route for “American Oxygen,” flying solo while images of protests both recent and historical flashed in the background, bittersweetly mixed in with some of the country’s biggest achievements.
