Girlpool – “Cherry Picking”
The great Philly-via-L.A. acoustic punk duo (and recent-vintage BTW) Girlpool are a mere week away from releasing Before The World Was Big, their truly excellent debut album, and we’ve already heard “Ideal World” and the title track. They’ve now shared “Cherry Picking,” a lament about a relationship drifting apart. It’s clearly a one-take song, recorded with both members in a room together, their voices crashing into each other beautifully. But it doesn’t scan as “lo-fi”; it’s merely a song recorded with a certain level of urgency. Listen to it below.
Before The World Was Big is out 6/2 on Wichita Recordings.
