Shut Up, Dude: This Week’s Best And Worst Comments

This week we ran some great artist portraits from Sasquatch!, which I wish I'd gone to this year, even if Kendrick didn't do "King Kunta" for some reason. Festival season is of course now in full swing. This weekend alone we've got BottleRock, Nelsonville, Sweetlife, and Roots Picnic here in the States; overseas there's Primavera Sound, from which Ryan Leas will be reporting daily for Stereogum. Sweetlife has the "Beets Don't Kale My Vibe" salad, but Primavera has Kathleen Hanna and this just happened:

I know we have a running joke about 2015 being so great for music, but Destroyer deciding to release his "Kaputt" follow up this year transcends that humor. Now it truly feels like stars are aligning and I don't know what we all did to deserve all this great music in one year.

This album SLAYS. When that melody kicks in on the opening track…

I knew from that moment it would be rad, and it is. Other standouts – "Obvs," "Hold Tight" and "The Rest is Noise," but really it's all great in the way that only dance music that finds the perfect balance between badass and emotional catharsis can be.
