Jay Rock – “Money Trees Deuce”
L.A. rap bruiser Jay Rock is a member of the Black Hippy crew with Kendrick Lamar, and he was the only crew member who got a guest verse on Kendrick’s album Good Kid, m.A.A.d City. (On this year’s To Pimp A Butterfly, nobody from the crew was invited. It wasn’t that kind of album.) The Good Kid track with the Jay Rock verse was “Money Trees,” and now Jay Rock has made his own sequel to the song, “Money Trees Deuce.” It’s a tough, pretty, contemplative number. And along with other recent Jay Rock tracks “Parental Advisory” and “Pay For It,” it’s enough to make me wish Jay Rock would hurry up and make an album.
Jay Rock will, I suppose, drop an album when he’s damn good and ready.
