New York punk rockers Parquet Courts released two albums last year -- the great Sunbathing Animals and the very good Content Nausea, released under the band's Parkay Quarts alter-ego. This year, though, the band has only given us a Live At Third Man album. So it's welcome news that the band has a pair of split 7" singles coming out, as Pitchfork reports. First, they'll team with Vermont lo-fi dude Joey Pizza Slice (who also records as Son Of Salami). They cover Joey Pizza Slice's "Pretty Girls," and Joey Pizza Slice covers a song of theirs. And a few days later, they'll also team up with the great New York underground band Big Ups for a live split. Parquet Courts' version of "Pretty Girls" is online now, and it's a garage-rocking, Modern Lovers-esque take on a tune about how pretty girls "is a motherfucker." Listen to the Parquet Courts version and the Joey Pizza Slice original below.
