Donald Trump Fires Back At Neil Young
When Donald Trump announced his candidacy for president last week, Neil Young’s “Rockin’ In The Free World” played as he walked onto the stage at Trump Tower. Neil Young didn’t like that, duh, and he wrote a whole long statement explaining exactly why he didn’t like that (it’s pretty much exactly the reasons you’d expect). Trump’s campaign manager said that they wouldn’t be using any of Young’s music in the future, but today, as Pitchfork reports, Trump fired back at Young in a series of tweets, calling him a “total hypocrite” for criticizing Trump after asking him for Pono funds.
.@Neilyoung A few months ago Neil Young came to my office looking for $$ on an audio deal & called me last week to go to his concert. Wow!

For the nonbeliever, here is a photo of @Neilyoung in my office and his $$ request—total hypocrite. pic.twitter.com/Xm4BJvetIa

.@Neilyoung’s song, “Rockin’ In The Free World” was just one of 10 songs used as background music. Didn’t love it anyway.

See that, Neil! Donald Trump doesn’t even like your stupid song anyway. Senator Bernie Sanders, who Neil Young has officially endorsed for president, used “Rockin’ In The Free World” at a recent rally, despite Young’s claim that “I make my music for people not for candidates.”
