Eleventh Dream Day – “The People’s History” (Stereogum Premiere)
Core Eleventh Dream Day members Rick Rizzo, Janet Bean (of Freakwater), Doug McCombs (of Tortoise and Brokeback) came together with Jim Elkington (of Tweedy and Brokeback) for their upcoming album Works For Tomorrow. The Chicago alt-rock band’s release centers on “embracing a future which does not succumb to the past, but challenges it in order to adapt and grow,” a relevant sentiment for a band over three decades old. Works For Tomorrow’s sixth track is “The People’s History,” a song that enters with screeching guitars and continues to build on Rizzo’s layered chant-sing vocals and clean but heavy guitar and drums. Listen.
