Trouble Knows Me (Future Islands’ Samuel T. Herring & Madlib) – “Trouble Knows Me”
Future Islands frontman has previously showed off his rap talents on stage, but never on record; when he guested on one of Gangrene’s GTAV tracks, he sang the hook. That changes today as Herring unveils Trouble Knows Me, his new hip-hop duo with superproducer and serial collaborator Madlib. The group are releasing a self-titled 12″ on Madlib’s label this September, and they’ve shared a song from the project that’s also called “Trouble Knows Me.” Herring spits gravelly, low-key lyrics over top of the kind of post-Dilla grimy boom-bap Madlib has long been known for.
