Here Are The 2015 MTV VMA Nominations
Who could’ve predicted that after wagging a foam finger all over Robin Thicke, two years later Miley Cyrus would end up hosting the VMAs? Guess it’s not that surprising, but it certainly guarantees a good show, which is the whole point of the VMAs, anyway. What isn’t the least bit surprising is that Taylor Swift is completely dominating the field. She leads with a whopping nine nominations — and all but one are for her “Bad Blood” remix featuring Kendrick Lamar. So he’s got quite a nice passenger seat toward winning several awards this year, even if he also garnered three nominations all on his own. Speaking of which, it’s beyond me how “Alright” was nominated for Video Of The Year and Best Hip Hop Video but not Video With a Social Message.
Ed Sheeran got six nominations; Beyoncé has five, and Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars have been nominated five times together for “Uptown Funk.” Drake is conspicuously absent from the list, and Kanye West only appears as a featured artist on Big Sean’s “One Man Can Change The World.” Maybe Cyrus will bring him out to address this oversight? Maybe they’ll finally debut that long-rumored “Black Skinhead” remix? I’m just getting off topic now, so check out the full list of the nominations below. The VMAs will be held on Sunday 8/30 at 9PM EST.
