Chelsea Wolfe – “Grey Days”
We’ve heard three tracks — “Iron Moon,” “Carrion Flowers,” and “After The Fall” — from Chelsea Wolfe’s new album, Abyss, so far, but “Grey Days” may be the most icily gorgeous yet. It begins with a staticky howl that turns into pained breathing that gives way to heavy drums and grandiose strings. “Poison inside helps me along,” Wolfe whispers, as violins chime in to do the same. It’s a song for those days when everything feels overwhelming and impossibly bleak, where the only escape involves digging into the darkness even more and letting it overcome you. Listen to the new track in all of its ghastly operatic glory below.
Abyss is out 8/7 via Sargent House.
