Mark Lanegan & Beth Orton – “Your Kisses Burn” (Marc Almond & Nico Cover)

UK label Heavenly Recordings is turning 25 this year, and they're releasing a few special singles to celebrate. They got relatively recent signee Mark Lanegan and early star Beth Orton to record a cover of "Your Kisses Burn," the 1988 duet between Soft Cell's Marc Almond and Nico, which ended up being Nico's final recording before her death. Lanegan and Orton play the cover fairly straight, maintaining the original's lushly orchestrated gothic grandeur, with maybe an added hint of dusty twang, thanks in no small part to Lanegan's inimitable older-than-dirt voice.
