Stolen Jars – “Bright Red” (Stereogum Premiere)
Stolen Jars have opened for Jessie J and St. Lucia, and they’ve even had a song featured in an Apple iPad commercial. Now it’s time for them to step into the foreground. “Bright Red” is the third single off of their upcoming album, Kept. It starts with a gentle trickling, like water dripping quick succession, then comes Molly Grund’s sweet, angelic voice. The twill of guitar, the rapping of the drumsticks, and the twinkling keys make for a shimmering texture that fits their whole extra-sweet aesthetic. Stolen Jars are mellow and atmospheric, like a never-ending bright blue sky with the occasional cotton candy cloud. Listen.
