Vic Mensa – “Heir To The Throne (Freestyle)”
Vic Mensa seems poised for big things, and he’s totally aware of it. Late last night, the young Chicago rapper uploaded a new freestyle to SoundCloud entitled “Heir To The Throne.” It opens with an intro taken from Jay Z and Roc-A-Fella’s “Takeover” freestyle on Hot 97 before Mensa comes right out and declares “This the beginning of a new dynasty/ I hope you niggas come prepared,” and he spends the rest of the track’s three-minute runtime going in over the instrumental to Biggie’s “Who Shot Ya?” He also drops a couple of fellow Kanye protege Travi$ Scott’s signature “straight up” adlibs while rapping “Couple rap niggas you’da thought that we was crew/ Real life niggas was corny, what can I do?/ Rich boy rappers get the notion that they tough/ You a Cheddar Bob, you better shooting yourself,” so who knows what’s going on there. Listen below.
Vic Mensa’s debut album Traffic will be out this fall on Roc Nation/Def Jam.
