Watch U2 Perform With Bruce Springsteen In NYC
U2 finished up an eight-night stand at Madison Square Garden last night. It had already been a pretty action-packed run — the band trotted out songs that they hadn’t played in 26 years, played with Lady Gaga, Paul Simon, and Laurie Anderson, and invited a woman who helped Bono after his bike crash to the stage — and last night they continued the streak by bringing out the Boss himself. Bono called Bruce Springsteen to the stage by describing him as “someone who gave us a reason to be a band, gave us a reason to continue to be a band, and gave us a level that we could never reach but always aspire to” and thanking him for filling in at U2’s World AIDS Day concert in Times Square following Bono’s accident. U2 and Springsteen performed “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” and a cover of Ben E. King’s “Stand By Me,” which they previously performed the first time they played together in 1987. (Bill and Hillary Clinton were also in attendance at the show, and Bono gave them a shout-out too.) Watch below, and read what our very own young classic rocker Ryan Leas thought about the tour here.
