No Devotion – “Permanent Sunlight”
Last year, Geoff Rickly, former Thursday frontman and current leader of the great hardcore band United Nations, teamed up with the non-child predator former members of the Welsh band Lostprophets to form a new group called No Devotion. Together, they make big and bold and triumphant synth-rock, and as Rickly explained to me last year, they were psyched and confused to see their first single go to #1 in Belarus. Next month, No Devotion will release Permanence, their debut album, and we’ve already posted first single “Addition.” And now they’ve shared “Permanent Sunlight,” probably the best song I’ve heard from this band yet. It’s a tremendous, surging song, the sort of song that makes you want to stretch your arms skyward while you’re standing on a hockey-arena floor somewhere. Check it out below.
Permanence is out 9/25 on Rickly’s own Collect Records.
