Heaters – “Gum Drop” (Stereogum Premiere)
When we last heard from Michigan psych combo Heaters, they were hawking their “Mean Green” 7″, a stuttering blast of lo-fi garage rock. Now a full-length called Holy Water Pool is on deck, and its teaser single smooths out the band’s ferocious sound significantly. “Gum Drop” is Pink Floyd’s “Breathe” swirling in the echo chamber, a hypnotic two-chord vamp that approximates a reverb tsunami slowly approaching to sweep you away. It’s an intriguing turn for a band that typically trades in straight-up rock ‘n’ roll music, and you can hear it below.
Heaters have some gigs coming up:
08/26 Nashville, TN @ Stone Fox
08/27 Chicago, IL @ Subterranean
09/04 Grand Rapids, MI @ Pyramid Scheme
09/25 Brooklyn, NY @ Alphaville w/ The Mystery Lights and special guests TBA
Holy Water Pool is out 9/25 via Beyond Beyond Is Beyond. Pre-order it here.
