Kevin Gates Addresses Battery Charge On New Song

Over the weekend, Baton Rouge rapper Kevin Gates was doing a show in Florida when 18-year-old female fan Miranda Dixon appeared to grab his leg. He responded by kicking her in the chest, hard enough that she says she had to go to the emergency room. Video of the attack went viral, and yesterday, we reported that Gates was facing simple battery charges. Today, Gates shared a new song called "The Truth" that explicitly addresses the attack this weekend, as Nah Right points out. It's not exactly an apology. Instead, it features Gates railing against his victim, claiming that she'd already groped him a few times and that he'd "warned" her. Listen to the track below.

This couldn't possibly be more obvious, but it's never OK to attack a woman, no matter what she was doing. This song plays like Gates throwing a public tantrum after being held accountable for doing something awful.
