BJ The Chicago Kid – “When A Woman’s Fed Up” (R. Kelly Cover)
BJ The Chicago Kid is one of those under-the-radar R&B singers who still has the potential to bubble up into mainstream stardom at any time. His 2012 mixtape, Pineapple Now-Laters, remains one of the most overlooked tapes of its kind. Now it’s three years later and he’s still grinding away on his forthcoming major label debut, In My Mind.
This cover of R. Kelly of “When A Woman’s Fed Up” isn’t from BJ’s new album — it’s part of brandy makers E&J’s “Generations Of Soul” campaign — but it shows off his Chicago roots and velvet-smooth voice in peak form. Along with Raphael Saadiq and Lee Fields, BJ will perform at E&J’s “Generations Of Soul” concert on 10/14 in Chicago. Listen to his cover below and keep an eye out for In My Mind coming this fall, and also check out his recent collaboration with Chance The Rapper, “Church.”
In My Mind is out this fall via Motown.
