Shut Up, Dude: This Week’s Best And Worst Comments
Things are heating up on the campaign trail as far as Stereogum’s wheelhouse is concerned. This week Hoodie & The Blowfish fan Hillary Clinton finally broke her legendary silence on Kanye West’s presidential campaign. Across the aisle Tony Orlando pal Mike Huckabee used “Eye Of The Tiger” at a rally for anti-gay Kentucky clerk Kim Davis, so Survivor are considering a lawsuit. Meanwhile, having already pissed off Neil Young and all of Latin pop, Republican frontrunner Donald Trump now faces the ire of R.E.M. for using “It’s The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)” at a recent event. (It’s probably smart Colbert didn’t book him on the same night as Pearl Jam.) Should the Orange Clown stick with walk-on music from his classy friends Aerosmith? (“Crazy”?) Or from someone more contemporary?
Glad to hear that @taylorswift13 will be co-hosting the Grammy nominations special on 12.5. Taylor is terrific!

It should be Prince, forever. Nobody else need apply. Between his own catalog and covers, he would never have to repeat any material. |

While they could’ve gone way wrong (Ed Shereen), this needs to not happen. The Adele one was good but there wasn’t a lot of risk taking, and now they want the king of Milquetoast. This seems like an appeal to the lamest common denominator, shouldve gone Jessie Ware if they wanted to keep it local… |

Always thought that Alex Turner would make a brilliant bond theme song. I mean pretty much everything from The Last Shadow Puppets album would be absolutely perfect. But then again that would be too bold/brilliant for the bond people. Best to take the shitty populist route. |

There are a lot of reasons to be sad and upset about the bigotry that runs rampant in our culture, but ultimately you just have to feel sad for these schmucks. Their way of life is dying, and they are being dragged kicking and screaming into a world that terrifies them. There is absolutely nothing they can do, besides die, to avoid living in a world where people are smoking weed in public and marrying whomever they want. The sheer existential terror this creates in them is almost impossible to wrap your head around. |

Song Nazis Art isn’t just for the consumption of “approved groups”. This is incredibly childish, but Stipe hasn’t exactly matured much since the Reagan administration. I guess he’s just fine with drone strikes. |
