Steve Gunn is the kind of guitarist who manages to make ordinary moments feel mystical. His nearly seven-minute song “Old Strange” off 2013’s Time Off is an apt example that, as illustrated by the recent Cardinal Sessions video of him playing it out in an isolated field in Germany. Gunn was in Haldern for the annual Haldern Pop Festival when Cardinal Sessions caught up with him. The session creators provided a little vignette of their own, laying out the scene:

Shortly after the session with Steve came the rain. It was the last day of Haldern Pop Festival. Maybe thats why the vibe is so special. We filmed with 4 cameras, so some of us just sat down on the ground behind the cameras and enjoyed listening.
