Line & Circle – “Out Of Metaphors” (Stereogum Premiere)
Line & Circle’s gleaming college-rock jangle has never sounded better than on “Out Of Metaphors,” the latest advance single from the LA band’s upcoming album Split Figure. Half the song’s elliptical lyrics are questions, and even the statements keep you wondering — “All out of metaphors/ For where I’d rather be, who I’d rather be with” becomes “All out of metaphors for/ Damaged nerves and failing faculties.” The music in between bears a heavy Hindu Love Gods influence, its understated verses spilling over into a rapturous chorus. Listen below.
Split Figure is out 10/2 on Grand Gallop Music. Pre-order it here, and check out Line & Circle at CMJ Music Marathon next month in NYC.
