In recent years the musical community orbiting Flying Lotus' Brainfeeder label has been responsible for some fantastic convergences of hip-hop, electronica, and jazz. That will continue this November when Berlin-based LuckyMe affiliate DJ Paypal releases Sold Out on Brainfeeder. "Awakening" trades in the same kind of frenetic digital-era jazz that made the last couple FlyLo albums such a trip, but with an agility that reminds me of his connections to the late DJ Rashad's Teklife crew.
