Pearl Jam have not been active in 2015. They haven’t played any shows or released any music. Eddie Vedder has shown up at a whole lot of Cubs games. But apparently when a band has been around for this long, touring as hard as Pearl Jam have, they can just turn it back on whenever they want. Last night, Pearl Jam were the musical guests on Late Night With Stephen Colbert. On the show proper, they played “Mind Your Manners,” their 2013 single. And in a moment that looked unplanned, they also covered Neil Young’s “Rockin’ In The Free World,” a song that they’ve played many, many times Colbert himself, looking delighted and bouncing around like a little kid, joined them onstage to harmonize on the chorus. On both songs, Pearl Jam seemed to be very much in fighting shape. Watch both performances below.
