Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly featured a cameo from George Clinton, along with deep references to funk music as a whole. Lamar's interest in funk and jazz seems to have renewed mainstream interest in those forms; Kamasi Washington's jazz opus The Epic garnered considerable critical attention this year too.
