Joan Shelley’s voice has been praised by this website many a time, namely here, here, here, and in the Album Of The Week column she garnered a few weeks ago for her pristine new album Over And Even. But it wasn’t until I got the chance to see her live that the quiet power of her vocals really hit me — it sounded identical live to the way it sounds on the record. For those of you who missed her tour, NPR’s Tiny Desk concert offers something close to that. It’s an intimate performance with Shelley and her frequent accompanist Nathan Salsburg taking on three of the album’s best songs, “Easy Now,” “Stay On My Shore,” and “Not Over By Half.” Watch below.
