Funny thing about last-minute surprise album releases: They don’t necessarily involve music videos. We don’t know if there’s a single, per se, on Drake and Future’s What A Time To Be Alive. People seem to like “Diamonds Dancing” and “Jumpman,” but until Drake and Future opt to put a visual together — that’s if they even do — we’re stuck with the music and nothing more. Similarly, is Ryan Adams ready to commit to the ridiculousness involved in covering a Taylor Swift video, even after he’s covered an entire album? Probably not! But we’ll see! All that said, this was a crazy week for new music and a weirdly light one for videos, though we did get some good ones. Five of them are below.

5. Major Lazer – “Too Original” (Feat. Elliphant & Jovi Rockwell) (Dir. Tim Erem)

Have you ever seen Eastern Europeans really throw down and party? It is a thing to behold. Before you die, make it a point to go to a Ukrainian New Year’s Party. Any video that can evoke even a tiny bit of that bedlam deserves a place on this list.

4. Mac Miller – “Brand Name” (Dir. Rex Arrow)

It’s a goofy Truman Show pastiche, sure. But I like to think it’s also Mac Miller’s idea of how his life might look if he’d given up on his rap dream. Like, that’s probably how he thinks office life looks!

3. Father John Misty – “The Night Josh Tillman Came To Our Apartment” (Dir. Drew Pearce)

I think it’s time for all of us to take a moment and acknowledge the artistic influence of Dave Franco.

2. Autre Ne Veut – “The Age Of Transparency” (Dir. Allie Avital)

The first genuinely chilling video of the Halloween season. Shouts to Arthur Ashin for being willing to portray himself as a self-googling King Midas office sociopath, and shouts to Allie Avital for giving us that final shot that reminds me of the end of Leo Fulci’s Zombi.

1. Rae Sremmurd – “Come Get Her” (Dir. Motion Family)

Plenty of the videos above have lots of smart ideas. But sometimes, smart is no match for gloriously, unapologetically dumb.
