Two of the three singles from Julien Baker's debut album, Sprained Ankle, have made their way onto our 5 Best Songs list, and for good reason. The kind of sparse, stark emotional clarity that the 20-year-old songwriter puts into all of her songs make them heavy with the weight of experience, and a sense of dreading, overwhelming immediacy.
