Judge Dismisses Copyright Infringement Case Against Jay Z

A judge has dismissed the copyright infringement case against Jay Z over an allegedly uncleared sample in “Big Pimpin’.” The case, which was brought up by the nephew composer Baligh Hamdi, said that Jay and the track’s producer, Timbaland, didn’t get the proper rights to a flute that they sampled from the 1957 song “Khosara Khosara.” But, according to the Associated Press, the case was thrown out because “the heir of an Egyptian composer didn’t have the right to pursue a copyright infringement claim.”

Both Jay Z and Timbaland appeared in court to testify earlier this month.
