Check Out Ryley Walker’s Old Improv Noise Band Heat Death
Ryley Walker pretty firmly established himself in the pastoral folk category with Primrose Green, his new album from earlier this year, but the Chicago musician has been letting his more experimental side show recently: This past summer, he put out a sprawling experimental instrumental album, Land Of Plenty, with Bill McKay, and today he’s shared a straight-to-tape recording of an old noise band of his called HEAT DEATH. According to the Soundcloud description, it was recorded in 2008 in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood with Jay Caston and Walker both playing electric guitar. “feeling mad nostalgic damn…” he wrote. For the most part, it’s just a noisy squall but in terms of squalls, it’s pretty alright! Check it out below.
