BASECAMP – “Comfort Zone” (Prod. Jamie Lidell) (Stereogum Premiere)
The sleek, melancholic Nashville synth-R&B act BASECAMP, whose “Shudder” we shared last year, are releasing a digital single produced by Jamie Lidell tomorrow. BASECAMP and Lidell are a good fit, as B-side “Comfort Zone” demonstrates. It’s a futuristic misty-windows groove topped off with soulful vocals and skittering sound effects, and it pretty much rules. BASECAMP weigh in on the track:
“Comfort Zone” was the result of our first session with Jamie Lidell. It came together really naturally. There was a great chemistry between us. It was definitely one of the more fun days we’ve spent in a studio, and I think that comes across in this record.
Hear “Comfort Zone” below along with A-side “In My Veins” featuring Del The Funky Homosapien and Billie Black.
BASECAMP have some shows coming up:
11/28 Los Angeles, CA @
12/01 Nashville, TN @ Exit/In
12/04 Allston, MA @ Great Scott
12/05 Brooklyn, NY @ Rough Trade
The “In My Veins” single is out tomorrow, 11/13, on Red Bull Sound Select.
