Metalcore Band Says Coldplay Are “Jackin Their Steez” On New Album Cover
Coldplay have been accused of a great many things over the years. But until very recently, “ripping off a metalcore band” wasn’t one of them. But then Coldplay shared the artwork for A Head Full Of Dreams. And many fans noticed that it includes the “flower of life” geometric pattern — the same pattern that can also be seen on the cover of Sempiternal, the 2013 album from British crunch-rockers Bring Me The Horizon.
Talking to NME, Bring Me The Horizon frontman Oli Sykes talked about the possibility that Coldplay are “jacking our steez,” a phrase he apparently used in real life. Sykes honestly does not seem all that pissed off about it:
At the end of the day it’s not our symbol; it’s a very old symbol. They might not have known at first, but obviously if you google “flower of life” the first thing that comes up is “Bring Me The Horizon – Sempiternal.” It’s like, if you Google the images, someone’s gonna have said something to them, so whether it was intentional or not, it is the same… It’s not ours. It’s kind of cool, really. It’s a cool thing that a band that big are also gonna be sharing that with people.
In related news, shout out to Bring Me The Horizon for somehow getting played on Beats 1 Radio all the time.
