Oscars’ Documentary Short List Includes Amy Winehouse, Laurie Anderson, Nina Simone Films
After a preliminary round of voting, The Academy Of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has revealed a short list of 15 documentaries currently in the running for an Oscar nomination, Variety reports. The next round of voting will whittle those 15 down to the five actual nominees, which will be announced 1/14. Among the feature films on the short list are Asif Kapadia’s critically acclaimed Amy Winehouse documentary Amy, Netflix’s Nina Simone doc What Happened, Miss Simone?, and Laurie Anderson’s autobiographical Heart Of A Dog, a meditation on the death of her beloved rat terrier Lolabelle. (HBO’s Kurt Cobain: Montage Of Heck, which did have a limited theatrical release and is thus eligible for the Oscars, is not on there.) Check out the full list below.
