Here Are The 2016 Grammy Nominations
The Grammy nominations have arrived, and the major categories are pretty stacked! Of particular indie-rock interest is a Best New Artist nomination for Courtney Barnett. The incisive Australian slacker rocker will almost certainly join James Bay, Sam Hunt, and Tori Kelly in losing to Meghan Trainor, but hey, crazier things have happened. Surprisingly, every album in the Album Of The Year race is actually good, with Alabama Shakes, Kendrick Lamar, Chris Stapleton, Taylor Swift, and the Weeknd facing off. D’Angelo’s “Really Love” will face mega-hits “Uptown Funk,” “Blank Space,” “Can’t Feel My Face,” and Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” in the Record Of The Year category, while Kendrick’s “Alright” nabbed a Song Of The Year nod. Kendrick is nominated 11 times in nine categories, while the Weeknd and Swift have seven nominations each. Here’s a detailed list:
