2015 was Shamir Bailey’s breakout year. On the heels of his Northtown EP and last fall’s bubbly nu-disco jam “On The Regular,” the young Vegas artist released one of this year’s best albums in Ratchet. Since then, he’s played dozens of shows in the States and abroad (including a star-making SXSW stint) and brightened Bravo and Colbert alongside Apple and Android commercials. YouTube put him on a Times Square billboard. With the demands of emerging pop stardom, Shamir could be forgiven for missing all of the year’s big pop culture stories. But he did not! We sat down with the musician to get his take on man buns, #thedress, and other controversial 2015 topics.
