The 1975 – “UGH”
I recently wrote about my appreciation for the 1975, a British band who have become full-fledged superstars making sleek, sexy bubblegum pop along the lines of INXS and Duran Duran. “UGH,” the second single from their unwieldily titled sophomore LP, is an ideal exemplar of their appeal. A carbonated synthetic funk groove serves as a fine foundation for Matthew Healy to vent his romantic and/or sexual frustrations while sounding not unlike Phil Collins. Listen below.
Healy also shared a letter about “UGH” in comic form, which you can check out below:
The 1975’s new album I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it is out 2/26 on Dirty Hit/Interscope. Pre-order it here.
