Stream BJ The Chicago Kid’s EP Of D’Angelo Covers
It would be tough to overstate D’Angelo’s seismic influence on so many of the R&B musicians who came after, and one artist who learned a ton from him is the deeply gifted BJ The Chicago Kid. BJ, who has collaborated with people like Kendrick Lamar and Chance The Rapper, is celebrating the 16th anniversary of D’Angelo’s classic single “Untitled (How Does It Feel?)” by releasing a quick EP of D’Angelo covers. As The FADER points out, Salute To D’Angelo lasts less than 10 minutes, and it includes quick covers of D’Angelo’s version of Prince’s “She’s Always In My Hair” and of “Send It On.” (That “Always In My Hair” might be a cover of a cover, but it’s still a pretty deep cut; not too many D’Angelo acolytes are out here repping for his contribution to the Scream 2 soundtrack.) Listen to BJ’s EP below.
BJ’s album In My Mind is coming out sometime this year on Motown.
