The 1975 – “The Sound”
The first two singles from the 1975’s new album — which, unfortunately, is called I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it — sounded like INXS and Scritti Politti respectively. The third, “The Sound,” trades those tight funk grooves and stretched-elastic guitars for a crystalline disco-house feel not that far removed from Justice and Daft Punk. For better or worse, it reminds me of the early MGMT/Passion Pit blog era. Watch out for that digital guitar solo! The song premiered on BBC Radio 1 this afternoon, and you can hear it below.
I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it is out 2/26 on Dirty Hit/Interscope. Pre-order it here.
