Grimes – “Kill V. Maim” Video
We named Grimes’ latest offering, Art Angels, the best album of 2015 because it sounds like an innovative work of mad genius. It’s Claire Boucher’s unique and concise vision — one that could easily soundtrack an as-yet-uninvented video game — that lends itself well to visual interpretation. We already saw the baroque Boucher-directed video for “Flesh Without Blood/Life In The Vivid Dream,” which introduced us to some of the Art Angels that surround Boucher’s Grimes persona, and last night she posted a photo to Instagram of herself surrounded by supporting angels. She’s been teasing the “Kill V. Maim” video for a long time. When I saw her perform in New York back in November, Grimes talked a bit about working on it, hinting that it was going to be a true spectacle. She wasn’t fronting; watch the new Boucher-directed video below.
