Bobby Shmurda Denied Bail Again
It is not a case of deja vu: Bobby Shmurda has been denied ball for the seventh time by New York City judge Abraham Clott. According to The FADER, Judge Clott cited what he believes is “no substantive change” in Shmurda since his arrest in December of 2014. Shmurda’s legal team has expressed frustration that he has not been able to post bond.
According to TMZ, Shmurda’s $2 million bail was set based on an estimated net worth of $20 million at the time of his arrest in 2014. The Brooklyn rapper claims his net worth is closer to $427,000 and bail should be set in the $50,000-$100,000 range.
Before his sixth denial just over a month ago, and his fifth in October of last year, Shmurda garnered additional charges for allegedly smuggling a knife into Rikers.
Shmurda’s next court date is 2/22, where he will face the charges of his re-arrest for the knife. Alex Spiro, Shmurda’s lawyer, says they will not stop trying to get his bail amount decreased if they have to make the request “55 times.”
