Marching Church – “Coming Down” (Stereogum Premiere)
Iceage frontman Elias Bender-Rønnenfelt is prepping his latest release with Marching Church, his former solo project that’s now a full-fledged band. A limited-edition 12″ called Coming Down: Sessions In April is coming in February — the April in the title refers to the recording session last spring. The B-side is a 21-minute free jazz piece derived from a two-hour improv session featuring Kristian Emdal and Anton Rothstein of Lower, Frederikke Hoffmeier a.k.a. Puce Mary, Cæcilie Trier a.k.a. CTM, Bo Høyer Hansen, and Nils Gröndahl. The A-side, “Coming Down,” is as bleak and brooding as we’ve come to expect from Bender-Rønnenfelt, and you can hear it below.
