Nigel Godrich’s Dialogue In Star Wars: The Force Awakens Revealed
Back in December, we learned that Radiohead producer and Atoms For Peace member Nigel Godrich had a tiny role in biggest-movie-ever Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Godrich played a stormtrooper named FN-9330, and the British film director Edgar Wright claims that he got Godrich the role as a way of repaying a favor. And as it turns out, Godrich wasn’t just one of the anonymous stormtrooper hordes in the movie. He was important. He had a speaking role, by which I mean he got to say exactly one word.
In a new post on the Star Wars website, the movie’s supervising sound editor reveals all the people who played the various voice roles in the movie. And Godrich, it turns out, was responsible for yelling, “Hey!” as an elevator door opened to reveal Chewbacca. So the next time you watch the movie, listen hard for that “Hey!” and know that you are hearing the work of Radiohead’s greatest collaborator.
