Clearly, if you’re a Super Bowl commercials person, then you might want to stay away from our Commercial Appeal section this week to avoid spoilers, but music and the Super Bowl are intersecting now more than ever. Janelle Monáe and Lil Wayne have already starred in their respective commercials, but it’s a guarantee those won’t be as special as Audi’s. The German auto manufacturer’s Super Bowl spot will feature David Bowie’s 1972 classic “Starman” — a license they presumably worked out months before Bowie passed — underneath the narrative of a retired astronaut looking to find his verve for life again. The visuals will tug at heart strings, but for those who don’t live under a rock, the song will be much more evocative. Watch below.
