Dâm-Funk – “Secure”
West Coast synth-funk purveyor Dâm Funk turned in an excellent effort in last year’s Invite The Light, and he kicks off 2016 with the solid loosey, “Secure.” Layers of cosmic synth grooves, old-school 808s, smooth atmospheric sweeps, and rolling drum fills combine for an infectious rhythm with all the swing of a wrecking ball. The song is the sonic equivalent of cruising slow down Crenshaw Boulevard in the ’70s in a low-rider or hoopty with the windows down. It’s so damn smooth. Listen.
Invite the Light is out now on Stones Throw.
