Ronnie Spector was once the leader of the Ronettes, arguably the greatest girl group of the early ’60s, and she’s stayed busy after escaping from her vampiric ex-husband Phil Spector. This spring, she’ll release a new album called English Heart, an LP-length tribute to the British Invasion that was happening right around the same time her career was taking off. On the album, Spector covers the Beatles, the Kinks, and the Animals, as well as a Rolling Stones song that could’ve been hers from the beginning.

In 1965, Keith Richards and Stones manager Andrew Loog Oldham co-wrote the song “I’d Much Rather Be With the Girls” with Spector in mind. For whatever reason, she never recorded it, and the Stones recorded their own version, “I’d Much Rather Be With The Boys,” in 1965. But Spector has finally recorded her version of the song, and you can hear it below, via The Wall Street Journal. Listen to it below.
