Early this year we sang the praises of “K9,” a song from Detroit duo Gosh Pith’s upcoming Gold Chain 12″. With this Friday’s release date rapidly approaching, they’ve shared the Martez Claybren collaboration “New Balance,” another solid track that further crystallizes their unique sound. They deal in alternately booming and skittering beats, gauzy synth pads, and sleepily sighing R&B vocals, yet the whole thing has an almost twee sensibility about it that reminds me of the similarly unclassifiable duo Bent Denim. It’s intriguing stuff, spacious and crisp and hard-hitting yet heady and zonked and liable to float away at any moment. Listen below.
