Explosions In The Sky Not Cool With Ted Cruz Using Their Music
Another day, another band upset that a Republican presidential candidate is using their music without permission. But surprisingly, it’s not Donald Trump this time! As Pitchfork points out, an official Ted Cruz campaign video showing Texas Governor Greg Abbott endorsing Cruz is soundtracked by the stirringly emotional strains of Austin post-rock greats Explosions In The Sky’s “Your Hand In Mine,” off of their 2003 album The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place (and their Friday Night Lights soundtrack). This fact was brought to the band’s attention today, and they are understandably none too pleased about it:
