Jesse Lacey – “Bad Day” (R.E.M. Cover)
‘Tis a rare day when we hear anything from Brand New (“Mene” was 11 months ago! 11!), much less its publicity-averse frontman Jesse Lacey, but today is one of those good days! Lacey is the final contributor to long-time collaborator and friend Kevin Devine’s Devinyl split series, which has been unfolding over the past year with songs from Meredith Graves, Tigers Jaw, Cymbals Eat Guitars, and more. Both of them covered R.E.M. songs for their split — Devine did the 2001 single “Imitation Of Life,” while Lacey took on “Bad Day,” which was one of two previously unreleased songs that was included on the band’s 2003 greatest hits compilation. Listen to Lacey’s cover via The Fader below.
The final Devinyl split is out 3/25 via Bad Timing Records.
